Winter Outdoor Activities in Chippewa Falls

Winter Activities

The holidays have come and gone, and the cold weather continues to descend upon us here in Chippewa Falls.  We all know the winter months in the north woods can be brutally cold some years.  While I don’t particularly enjoy spending a whole lot of time outdoors when it is cold,  there are definite benefits of getting outdoors and getting some exercise.  You always feel better after spending some time in the fresh air.  Whether it’s just a 15-minute walk in your neighborhood or grabbing the snowshoes and going for a walk on the Chippewa River or through Lake Wissota State Park, you’ll never feel as if you have wasted your time – especially when you can return to the warm, cozy bed and breakfast.

Winter at the Inn

Welcome, 2022! The Holidays are over, and we are now settling in to enjoy the peacefulness of winter here on Lake Wissota. The lake has frozen over, and a few brave souls have taken to the ice to try their hands at catching the wide variety of fish found in our lake. I’m still waiting to see if it turns into a scene from “Grumpy Old Men”! Regardless of whether you prefer ice fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing, shopping, or just snuggling up next to the fireplace with a good book, we would love to welcome you as our guest at the Inn on Lake Wissota.

Key Lime Pie – Your New Favorite Summer Dessert

key lime pie on a countertop

Nope, this isn’t a breakfast recipe, but it does embody the the Inn and what it stands for more than we’d like to admit. We believe dessert is best shared with friends (as long as you get plenty), and they should leave you with sweet sugary dreams once it’s gone. Prep this pie the day before and when everyone’s gathered you’ll look like Harry Houdini with surprise dessert!

This recipe comes from Sobo, a restaurant surrounded by beaches in Tofino, Canada. Feel free to close your eyes and picture yourself eating this on a beach in the sun. We promise, it’ll make it even better.
