So, why would couples who would like to do something a little different to celebrate Valentine’s Day want to come to Chippewa Falls? For starters, Chippewa Falls is nestled in the north woods of western Wisconsin, a town of 13,000 people. Not a big city by any means, in fact, most folks would call it a small town. With small towns come charm, and I do love the charm Chippewa Falls offers. Yet, I hesitate to call Chippewa Falls a small town, somehow that description misrepresents everything it has to offer. Chippewa Falls seems to always have something going on, no matter the season, you will be able to find something to do that suits your interests. Let me give you three reasons to celebrate Valentines Day in Chippewa Falls:
- Music, Music, & More Music!! If you enjoy music, then Chippewa Falls will be the place to be. You will find live music at three different local bars. Every Buddy’s Bar and Grill will be jamming on both Friday and Saturday nights, Feb. 10-11, and again on Feb. 18th. Saturday, Feb. 11th you will find local bands at the Sheeley House Saloon , the Fill Inn Station and the Snout Saloon. If folk music or a barbershop quartet is more your style, then the Heyde Center for the Arts may be the place for you.
- Outdoor Activities! Maybe the best way for you and your sweetie to celebrate Valentine’s Day is to spend some time outdoors, enjoying nature in the Chippewa Valley. Be sure to check out the 4th Annual Jig’s Up Ice Fishing Contest . Presented by the UWEC Recreation, UWEC Athletics, and the Lake
Wissota Lions Club, the fishing contest offers no registration necessary, 2 different locations to weigh in your fish, and lots of prizes to be awarded. Maybe you would prefer snowshoeing or cross-country skiing? Try Lake Wissota State Park which islocated on the north end of Lake Wissota. They offer over 10 miles of cross-country skiing and 5 miles of snowshoe trails.
How about ice skating? Chippewa Falls has a new outdoor rink, the Bill Scobie Memorial Outdoor Rink. It just opened in December 2016. It is unique in that it has a canopy which protects the ice from sun and precipitation, which extends the ice-skating season and provides a great place to practice those triple salchows! There’s nothing like spending time outdoors, taking in all of the glory mother nature has to offer, allowing ourselves to unplug and rejuvenate.
- A Show! Ok, so maybe not all of the shows I am about to list are theatrical, but they do allow you to spend some quality time with your
sweetheart and celebrate Valentine’s Day. The Revelations Studio Exhibit… students of DeVona Brodt will be on display at the Heyde Center for the Arts through the end of March. You will also find Crescent Circus at the Heyde Center on Friday, Feb. 17th. A magic act that features a husband and wife team that combines magic, juggling, acrobatics and comedy to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. If your sweetheart is a gardener and getting the itch to start planning the summer gardens, then the Think Spring Garden Seminar is a great way to spend the day. Sponsored by the Chippewa Valley Master Gardeners Association and the University of Wisconsin Extension, the seminar offers 3 different break-out sessions with speakers from across the country.
- Dinner! Then to cap off the day with a fabulous meal from one of the many excellent restaurants in Chippewa Falls. Far too many to mention, that is the topic for another blog! Let me assure you, whether you enjoy the dining experience of a supper club, or the special treat of fine dining, some type of ethnic food, or a purger and fries, you’ll be able to Savor the best of Life by dining in Chippewa Falls, the perfect way to top off your Valentine’s Day Celebration.
So, no matter your interests, Chippewa Falls is the place to be to celebrate Valentine’s Day. You will find the people here to be friendly and happy to assist you in whatever experience you choose to treat your sweetheart to a very special Valentine’s Day that won’t be forgotten any time soon. And remember, Pleasant View Bed & Breakfast is the place to stay to help you make that experience even more memorable.
